News Briefs

Springfest is set for this Saturday on Dickson Street in Fayetteville. A newly added 5k, organized by the folks behind the Hogeye Marathon, begins at 7:30 a.m.

Door-to-door salespeople may soon be required to carry a permit when working in Fayetteville neighborhoods. City law already prohibits door-to-door sales if a property owner displays a “no soliciting” sign, but a proposed ordinance could further regulate the practice of soliciting at private residences.

Washington County Circuit Judge William Storey announced Tuesday he is running for Fayetteville District Judge.

Last night’s City Council meeting included nominations to fill openings on 12 boards, commissions and committees, selling 15 acres of land to Pacific Vet Group-USA, Inc., changes to several chapters of the city’s Unified Development Code and more.

Savages were added to the Queens of the Stone Age show set for Oct. 8 at the AMP in Fayetteville.
