High temperatures expected across region this week

Excessive heat warnings issued for areas surrounding Northwest Arkansas

With temperatures expected to reach the mid-to-upper 90s across the region this week, heat index readings could be as high as 104 in some areas.

The National Weather Service issued excessive heat warnings through Friday for Crawford, Sebastian and Franklin counties in Arkansas. No warnings were issued for Washington or Benton counties, but the areas are included in a hazardous weather outlook alert issued Wednesday morning.

In Fayetteville, highs of 95 and 97 are forecast Wednesday and Thursday.

Some relief is expected this weekend with highs of 86 and 81 forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
