The makers of Valley Inn, a new movie set to be filmed locally in Northwest Arkansas, have landed a big-time actress.

The filmmakers on Tuesday announced that Hollywood star Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy, The Break Up, Dazed and Confused) has joined the cast of the film.

Adams, who was born in Little Rock, joins David Lansbury (Scent of a Woman, The Hurricane), Natalie Canderday (October Sky, Sling Blade) Candyce Hinkle (True Grit), and others in the cast of the film. According to the filmmakers, over 100 local Arkansans have been hired to work in the cast and crew for the film.

Valley Inn is written by Arkansas expat and current New York resident Kim Swink, who plans to co-direct Valley Inn with her husband and Executive Vice President of Creative Services at HBO, Chris Spencer.

Several Fayetteville actors have also been cast in the film, including locals Kenn Woodard, Jordan Scott, Mark Landon Smith, Mandy Fason, Jaclyn Maran, Hugh Kincaid and Jocelyn Morelli.

The film is the story of a woman from New Jersey who finds herself in Hindsville, AR selling books door to door, where she “discovers that the true treasure of small town America can only be found in the richness of people’s hearts and souls.”
