State police are investigating a body found early Wednesday morning on Interstate 540, near the Wedington Drive overpass. Investigators aren’t sure whether the person was struck by a car while crossing the interstate or jumped from the overhead bridge.
Details are slim, but reports indicate the northbound lanes were temporarily closed to traffic while crews worked to remove the body and clean the roadway.
KNWA’s Channing Barker posted a few photos of the scene at around 6:30 a.m. before the roadway was reopened.

KNWA’s Liz Hogan was also reporting on the incident and said although state police were not releasing much information about their investigation, they did refer to it as an abnormal situation.

Washington County Coronor Roger Morris told a reporter the body was discovered at around 2:20 a.m. He also said the body is being sent to the state crime lab in Little Rock.
Investigators said the body appeared to have been hit several times before police arrived at the scene.
