Shira E to perform at Nightbird Books Aug. 15

Brooklyn-based singer Shira E will bring her latest creations of music, poetry and visual art to Fayetteville this week.

The critically acclaimed artist, whose music has recently been gaining momentum, will perform Thursday, Aug. 15 at Nightbird Books on Dickson Street.

Through her 10-year career, Shira E has shared stages with Ani Difranco, TuNe-YaRds and Coco Rosie.

She’s currently on tour in promotion of her new album, Shouts and Sparks, which is the furthest departure from her early acoustic-rooted sound. The album, released after a successful Indiegogo campaign, is mostly electronic.

“For my shows I have a tiny Casio keyboard that I’ve played since I was 6 years old, and I have the sampler,” she told Buzzfeed. “This album was really about trying to match what is in my head onto the palette of the keyboard.”

Admission to the 8 p.m. show is $5 at the door.
