Cheese dip festival organizer plans Bacon Bowl Oct. 26 at NWA Mall

It’s brown. It’s crispy. It is the most delicious meat in all of the world, and this fall, there will be a new festival devoted to it in Fayetteville.

Of course, we’re talking about bacon.

Little Rock promoter John McClure announced recently that he’s planning an event called Bacon Bowl from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the Northwest Arkansas Mall.

The event will include a bacon dish cooking competition for both amateurs and professionals in entree and dessert divisions. The winners receive cash prizes and a trip to the 2014 New Orleans Food Festival.

A bacon eating competition, live music, and children’s activities are also in the works for the event.

McClure was the organizer of the World Cheese Dip Championship held in North Little Rock from 2010-12. He also organized the NWA Cheese Dip Classic at the Washington County Fairgrounds last year.

Online registration for folks interested in competing in the Bacon Bowl is open through Friday, October 18 at baconbowl.net.
