Washington County Fair

The Washington County Fair opens today on the fairgrounds at 2536 N. McConnell Ave. in Fayetteville. Gates open at 10 a.m. daily through Saturday. Carnival rides start at 5 p.m. (noon on Saturday) and close at about 10 p.m.

University of Arkansas Police announced the arrest of a Springdale man in connection with the rape of a student that occurred last September on campus. Using DNA evidence collected during an investigation, police identified Cesar Michael Figueroa, 22, as a suspect in the incident which took place in a parking lot.

It’s been two years since Dunkin’ Donuts first announced plans to build seven restaurants in Northwest Arkansas. Fort Smith was first, but it looks like the next two will be built in Bentonville and Fayetteville.

Sports

Arkansas head football coach Bret Bielema met with the media Monday to preview the team’s season-opening matchup against Louisiana on Saturday. Here are some of the highlights from the press conference.

Arkansas is the only SEC program without a dedicated basketball practice facility, but not for long.
