Southern soul rockers Alabama Shakes stopped in Northwest Arkansas Friday night for a show at the Arkansas Music Pavilion in Fayetteville.

Front woman Brittany Howard and the rest of the critically lauded group seemed taken aback after stepping onto the stage in front of such an excited crowd. Turns out, they were just glad to be back under a southern sky.

“It feels like home here,” said Howard after a few songs. “Must be something in the air.”

The Athens, Alabama-based band is coming off a monster year after their 2012 debut record “Boys & Girls” peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200 and number three in the U.K. The album’s opening track, “Hold On,” topped Rolling Stone magazine’s 50 Best Songs of 2012 list, and netted the group one of three Grammy nominations.

Here are a few photos from the show.
