There’s a zombie invasion coming to Fayetteville this month, and just in time for Halloween.

The Fayetteville Animal Shelter and Maverick’s Place Small Dog Rescue will host a “Zombie Tag” fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Lake Fayetteville Park.

Zombie tag is exactly what it sounds like. The games begins with a few zombies and a bunch of “humans” who will be sent on missions through the zombie infected grounds. The zombies chase the humans, capture their arm tag, and the humans become zombies. Humans will also be able to stun zombies by throwing marshmallows at them. Prizes will be awarded for the last human survivor and the most infectious zombie.

Kids of all ages are welcome to play, but the trails around Lake Fayetteville are steep and rugged in parts, so shelter officials are urging caution. The event will also include activities for young children.

The zombie tag game is facilitated by the folks behind the Eureka Springs Zombie Crawl, and they made a video (below) with tips on how to play.

Registration is $5 per person, or $20 for a family. T-shirts are also available for pre-order to be picked up the day of the event. The fun starts at 1 p.m.
