For the 12th consecutive year, thousands of ghosts, goblins, and almost certainly a few Yo Gabba Gabba characters will descend on Fayetteville for the annual Trick or Treat on the Square celebration next week.

The event, set for 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 on the Fayetteville square, will include carnival games, face painting, costume contests, and a photo booth. Of course, most of the square merchants will be handing out candy to local trick-or-treaters. The streets around the square will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event.

According to the folks at the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau, over 2,000 children attended the festivities last year. Here are a few photos we took to give you an idea of what to expect.

Immediately following Trick or Treat on the Square is the first ever Halloween Monster Dash, set to begin at 6 p.m. The Monster Dash is a Halloween-themed 5k and fun run, which will also include a costume contest, bouncy houses, interactive carnival, and more chances for kids to increase their candy supply.
