National Geographic photography editor Michael Nichols to visit UA Nov. 12

Michael “Nick” Nichols, National Geographic editor-at-large for photography, will speak at the University of Arkansas on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Nichols, who recently published the book Earth to Sky: Among Africa’s Elephants, a Species in Crisis (Aperture 2013), will speak and show his photographs at 7 p.m. at the new Hillside Auditorium on campus.

Nichols is a wildlife journalist who has worked with National Geographic since 1989. He is known for his beautiful images, and innovative techniques using robots and tiny helicopters, and other unique methods to capture his photos. He has served as editor-at-large for the magazine since 2008.

He will appear at the University of Arkansas as part of their Distinguished Lecture Series. The lecture is open to the public, admission is free, and there are no tickets required to attend.
