The Phoenix closes on Dickson Street

After less than seven months in business, The Phoenix has closed its doors at 402 W. Dickson Street.

The venue, owned by locals Chris and Sarah Varga, announced the closure on their Facebook page on Dec. 29. The Vargas also own Sideways, Ryleigh’s, and Bugsy’s on Dickson Street.

The New Year’s Eve show featuring Randall Shreve and The Side Show and Benjamin Del Shreve has been moved to The Stolen Glass.

Several bars and music venues have given it a shot in the space over the years, including Layla’s, CD Lounge, Art’s Place, The Gypsy, Froggy’s, and Rogue.

Zac Wooden, who recently purchased the building, confirmed the closure on Monday, and said he is still looking for a new tenant for the space.

“I really want something to go in there that’s different from past attempts,” Wooden said.

Anyone interested in the space can contact Wooden at 479-856-6686.
