Fayetteville Roots Festival to release 2014 lineup in early February

With the cold temperatures we are experiencing this week, the music festivals of the warm summer months may seem like a world away.

And even though the first chords on summer stages won’t be strummed for several months, things are at least heating up on the festival artist announcement front.

Wakarusa’s lineup was (more or less) finalized last week, and organizers of the Fayetteville Roots Festival on Monday announced that they’ll release their initial 2014 lineup along with some early-bird ticket packages on Feb. 7.

Roots Fest organizers have done a good job keeping the 2014 lineup under wraps this year.

So far, we know that acclaimed songwriter Darrell Scott and Tim O’Brien will be included in the 2014 lineup. We also noticed that Springfield, Mo. songwriter Cindy Woolf also lists the festival among the tour dates on her website.

We fully expect that organizers Bryan and Bernice Hembree’s new band, Smokey & the Mirror will be included, and there’s a good chance that 3 Penny Acre (who’ve been laying low recently) will perform as well.

Other than that, your guess is as good as ours as to who’ll end up on the lineup once it becomes public.

The Fayetteville Roots Festival is set for Aug. 28-31 at various locations around Fayetteville.

Who do you hope is on the list?
