Poet, novelist, civil rights activist and veritable renaissance woman Maya Angelou is coming to the Fayetteville Public Library.

The state of the city is sound, Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan said Tuesday during his annual State of the City Address.

Tenisha Gist, director of the Yvonne Richardson Center, received the Fayetteville Martin Luther King Jr. Brotherhood Award at this week’s City Council meeting.

Organizers of the Fayetteville Roots Festival said they’ll release their initial 2014 lineup next month.

Sports

The Razorbacks returned to Fayetteville with their 21st loss in 23 road games under head coach Mike Anderson last night. The Hogs fell to 1-4 in conference play after losing 81-74 to Tennessee Tuesday evening in Knoxville.
