Coming here: Les Claypool’s Duo de Twang, March 11 at George’s Majestic Lounge

Les Claypool is headed back to Fayetteville, and this time he’s bringing his newest project, Duo de Twang.

The old-school country music collaboration, featuring Claypool and longtime friend Bryan Kehoe, features raw covers of songs by the Bee Gees, Alice in Chains, and Claypool’s own Primus. The duo will soon release their first album, Four Foot Shack, a 15-track LP performed almost entirely with a simple guitar-and-bass arrangement.

The album is due out Feb. 4, but the group has shared several tracks from Four Foot Shack on SoundCloud, including Duo de Twang versions of Primus classics “Jerry Was a Race Car Driver” and “Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver.” Most recently, the duo dropped a bluegrass rendition of Alice in Chains’ 1991 hit “Man in the Box.”

Claypool was last in the area with Duo de Twang at the 2013 Harvest Music Festival. He’s also performed with Primus in 2011 at the Arkansas Music Pavilion, and in 2012 at Wakarusa.

Tickets go on sale Jan. 31 at georgesmajesticlounge.com.
