The Airplanes

There’s afternoon baseball in Fayetteville again this week, with the Razorbacks kicking off a weekend series with Eastern Illinois on Friday at 3:05 p.m. at Baum Stadium.

If you feel like seeing a show, TheatreSquared’s putting on their version of David Lindsay-Abaire’s comedy-laced drama, Good People at Nadine Baum Studios all weekend. Walton Arts Center also has the gravity-defying one man show, LEO on Friday night.

Music-wise, there’s a big show at The Lightbulb Friday night with excellent locals The Airplanes (Check this out. Seriously) Teenagers, and Witchsister (Four local girls rocking their asses off. Listen to this.).

Local jammy-trance-fusiony band Space Camp is playing a free show at George’s, and Smoke & Barrel Tavern has Tulsa, OK rockers, The Del Toros.

Sunday events, Feb. 23

Sunday is shaping up to be one of the best for entertainment options we’ve seen in Fayetteville in a while.

Alabama duo Shovels and Rope are in town for a show with Hurray for the Riff Raff at George’s, and both bands are kind of blowing up right now (here’s more info on the show). Tickets to the show are $15, on sale now at George’s ticketing site.

Speaking of blowing up, songwriter Angel Olsen is at The Lightbulb Club Sunday night with locals SW/MM/NG (who also just got accepted into SXSW. Nice work dudes). We published with Angel earlier this week. Admission is $5.

Also on Sunday night, Maxine’s Tap Room is debuting a new “Fayetteville-flavored” game show called Whosie Whatsit. The show is a a panel game show featuring local actors and comedians in the vein of 70’s game shows like To Tell the Truth, Match Game, Hollywood Squares and I’ve Got a Secret. Sounds kinda awesome. Plus, there’s no cover.
