Adam Faucett

Little Rock songwriter Adam Faucett is in town for a show at The Lightbulb Club Friday night. Faucett, who has been in Fayetteville pretty regularly lately, has a new record coming out March 11 that Tony Presley praised recently. Locals High Magic and Family History are also on the bill.

Smoke & Barrel has Springfield, Mo. folk band The Too’s Friday night, with locals Basement Brew.

A couple other good local shows are scheduled Friday nigh, with newish all-girl punk band Witchsister, Dead Indian, and Animal Noise at Ryleigh’s, and funky 1 Oz. Jig and Cadillac Jackson at George’s.

Feel like seeing a play? There are a couple good ones in town, with TheatreSquared’s Good People still playing at Nadine Baum Studios, and University Theatre performing the rock musical, Spring Awakening all weekend.

Saturday events, March 1

Mardi Gras parade

Opening day for The Fayetteville Farmers Market isn’t until April, but several vendors from the market will be set up at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for the first of three planned March Markets on Saturday. It starts at 10 a.m.

Fayetteville Mardi Gras festivities begin Saturday with the Fat Saturday Parade of Fools. The parade starts at 2 p.m. on the square before making its way down Block Avenue and along Dickson Street. Here’s more information about the parade.

Apple Seeds Inc. hosts a fundraiser for its planned urban teaching farm on Saturday, with seven local bands set to perform at Smoke & Barrel Tavern. Music starts at 6 p.m., and admission is $5. Here’s more info.

Local favorites Ben Miller Band are George’s Majestic Lounge with bluesy Kansas City band, Trampled Under Foot. Fayetteville’s Shawn James and the Shapeshifters are at Ryleigh’s.
