Trash and recycling collections delayed this week

All trash, recycling and yard waste collections are on hold until road conditions improve, Fayetteville officials announced Monday.

From a city news release:

Collections for the week of March 3rd are currently suspended and an announcement will be made later tomorrow regarding when services will resume as conditions are evaluated. Considering the weight of the Solid Waste Trash Trucks and the dangers should the truck hit & damage an object as a result of loss of traction, along with the safety of the Recycling and Trash workers is of great concern as their jobs require them to be outside and exposed to extreme cold conditions – the safety risk is too great for operations to continue at this time.

The Marion Orton Recycling Drop Off Center on North Street and the Recycling and Trash Collection offices will open at 12 p.m. on Monday.
