Water Liars

The hit musical Chicago continues its run at Walton Arts Center through the weekend. Our reviewer Michelle Parks saw it opening night, and here’s what she had to say.

Exploding Water Valley, Mississippi band Water Liars will be back in town for a show at The Lightbulb Club Friday night. We’ve been raving about them since our friend Tony Presley profiled them back in 2012. The Good Fear (featuring two Flyer co-founders) and Ghost Hollers (featuring at least one Thunderlizard) will open the show.

Also Friday night, songwriter Corey Smith will be back in town for a show at George’s Majestic Lounge. Last we heard, tickers were nearly gone for this one. Better grab ’em if you’re gonna.

Saturday events, March 15

St. Patrick’s day is technically on Monday, but the celebrations in Fayetteville will start early with St. Patrick’s Day on the Hill festivities in Downtown Fayetteville on Saturday. A craft beer village, parade, live music, a stout brewing competition, Irish dancers, and more are scheduled as part of the festivities. Here’s more info.

The best video game music band in Fayetteville (and probably the world) is at Smoke & Barrel Tavern on Saturday with The OneUps. The best video game music band in Raleigh, NC, otherwise known as 8 Bit Disaster, are also on the bill.

There’s a rock show at The Lightbulb Club on Saturday night with excellent Little Rock band, Bombay Harambee along with local indie outfit High Lonesome, and all-sister punk band, Witchsister.
