Renovation work to close Fayetteville Animal Shelter on Saturday

The Fayetteville Animal Shelter will be closed Saturday, March 22 while crews work to remove the old, vinyl tile from the front area of the main shelter building.

“The current tile has been here ever since the building first opened, and it was decided that it needed to be removed for both sanitary and aesthetic reasons,” said Justine Lentz, shelter superintendent. “The plans are to remove all of the tile, sand the concrete floors, and then stain and polish the concrete. This will make it much easier to clean and maintain a sanitary environment in this high-traffic area.”

The shelter, located at 1640 S. Armstrong Ave., will reopen Monday at 10 a.m.

Normal shelter hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
