Beaver Watershed Alliance announces 2014 photography contest

The Beaver Watershed Alliance is now accepting entries for the 2014 Watershed Photography Contest, organizers announced this week.

Area photographers are invited to submit photographs taken around the Beaver Lake Watershed, which includes Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area, Withrow Springs State Park, the Frisco Trail, Lake Atalanta, Lake Sequoyah, Mt. Kessler, Sequoyah Woods Trail, Slicker Falls on the West Fork of the White River in Winslow, Lake Wilson, War Eagle Creek, and Beaver Lake.

“We are excited to kick off our 2nd Annual Watershed Photography Contest to increase the awareness and appreciation of the natural areas in the Beaver Lake Watershed,” said Courtney Thomas, Outreach Coordinator of the Beaver Watershed Alliance. “We had some great entries in last year’s contest, and are hoping to reach even more of the local photography talent this year.”

This year’s contest runs through May 31, and includes prizes provided by Bedford Camera & Video and the Arkansas Missouri Railroad.

Photographs must be submitted online at facebook.com/beaverwatershedalliance or at beaverwatershedalliance.org no later than midnight on May 31, 2014. All photographs must have been taken no earlier than May 31, 2013. Photo captions must accompany all submissions, and should include the subject of the image, the date and the location at which the image was taken.

Winners will be announced and on display during the annual War Eagle Appreciation Day, scheduled for June 7 at Withrow Springs State Park.
