The College Avenue flyover bridge will be closed overnight this week while crews work to finish painting the new structure.

Work will begin at midnight on Monday, July 7, according to city officials. Traffic will be allowed back onto the bridge at 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 8.

After that, the bridge will close at 8 p.m. each night and reopen at 6 a.m. the following morning until the work is completed.

From a news release:

The flyover will be closed to all traffic during these times. We apologize for the inconvenience to the traveling public, but the closure is necessary for the safety of the workers and to prevent damage to vehicles from painting overspray.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last week to celebrate the opening of the long-awaited flyover bridge, which provides an easier way from drivers to get from College Avenue to Interstate 49 and the businesses around the Northwest Arkansas Mall.
