New York songwriter Joe Crookston is in town for a residency at Fayetteville Public Library, culminating in a couple cool events on Friday. A documentary screening of Blue Tattoo, a film inspired by a Crookston song of the same name, is set for 2 p.m. Later on, he’ll perform a free concert at 7 p.m. Here’s more info.

The week-long fundraiser for Nightbird Books is starting to wind down, but not before a couple good shows this weekend. Excellent locals Sw/mm/ng (read our interview with them here), Brothel Sprouts, and High Lonesome will perform at the venue Friday night.

Country superstar Miranda Lambert is in town for a show at the AMP Saturday night. Last we heard, it was close to a sell out but there were a few tickets left.

The Plaid Jackets are back in action, and they’ll be at Smoke & Barrel Tavern Saturday night with Fort Worth punk band, Blank-Men.

Sunday Service at Maxine’s Tap Room this week will include a version of their music show, Singled Out with local band Ozarka Orkestra. The concept of the show includes individual interviews and performances with each band member. As always, there’s no cover to attend.
