Ten years ago, a group of local folks got together and put on an art show with hopes of collectively creating exposure for a scene of talented Arkansas artists.

That art show, called Art Amiss, was so successful that it eventually turned into a full-fledged organization that has supposed dozens of artists from the Natural State since its inception with grants, promotional help, and as the host of art and music events. This week, the group will celebrate 10 years of helping to support the local art scene with an anniversary event at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 24 at The Garden Room in Fayetteville.

The event will include works of video, paint, collage, and live-action art by by 16 Arkansas artists, including Garrett Hunt, Evan Hallmark, Courtney King Doudna, Julia Nepolitano, Melissa Arens, Claire Arellano, Sam Houser, Elizabeth Sharp, Owen Buffington, Sarah Moore, Jade Howard, Thomas Krapusky, neon glittery, Matt Faries, Sydney Bowers, Marc Laney, Gustav Carlson, and Stephanie Petet.

Art Amiss also just released a new 24-track local music compilation called Art Amiss 15, and limited-edition tapes featuring custom sleeves by local artists will be on sale at the event as well.

The art show on Thursday is an all-ages event, and is free to attend (though donations are appreciated).
