With only two free Gulley Park summer concerts left this year, city officials are asking residents to consider giving back a little before the season ends.

Aside from lawn chairs and blankets, concert goers are encouraged to bring food items to donate during the July 24 event.

Stations will be set up to accept various food items for Feed Fayetteville, a local organization dedicated to fighting hunger.

Suggested donation items include:, Oats/oatmeal, brown rice, lentils, dried beans, quinoa/whole grains, jerky, dried fruit, nuts, seeds, granola, trail mix, canned tuna and salmon, peanut butter and almond butter.

This week’s guest artist is Denver, Colo. pop rockers Sarah & The Meanies. The band, led by singer Sarah Angela, have just finished a recording session at The Blasting Room, a studio known for churning out hits from acts like Rise Against, The Gaslight Anthem and Less Thank Jake.

The band was a featured artist at last year’s SXSW music festival, recently headlined the renowned Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and their latest video was recently nominated for best music video at the 2013 Starz Denver Film Festival.

As always, concerts are free to attend, and begin at around 7 p.m.

The final concert of the year is set for Thursday, Aug. 7 with the Ben Miller Band.
