The second-in-command at the Walton Arts Center is departing to lead a performing arts center in Idaho.

Terri Trotter, who has been with the Walton Arts Center since 1998, has accepted a position to become Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts in Ketchum, Idaho.

“I could not be more appreciative of and grateful for my nearly 16 years at Walton Arts Center and I will truly miss the WAC team, our patrons, and Northwest Arkansas” Trotter said in a news release issued Tuesday. “I have had tremendous opportunity to grow, develop and have an impact on our community in the positions I have held. That experience, and the many relationships I have built through the years, will be invaluable to me as I work to grow and develop my new organization.

“My family and I look forward to new challenges and opportunities in the unique community of Sun Valley. However, Northwest Arkansas will always be home, and I look forward to seeing Walton Arts Center’s continued growth and development,” she said.

It won’t be Trotter’s first time at the helm of a performing arts center. She served as interim President/CEO at the Walton Arts Center from March 2008 until April of 2009 when she was replaced by current President/CEO, Peter Lane.

Lane said Trotter will be sorely missed.

“She has been a true advocate for the arts,” Lane said. “She has played an instrumental role in our successful growth efforts, helped drive operational efficiencies and built strong and deep relationships with those in the Northwest Arkansas region. I am certainly sad to see her go but excited about what this means to her and her family.”

Trotter’s resignation is effective Aug. 22, 2014.
