Newk’s Eatery will soon open its first Fayetteville location.

According to the company’s website, the new Fayetteville restaurant will be located at 637 E. Joyce St., in the space once home to HuHot Mongolian Grill. HuHot closed its doors in December 2013 after three years in business in north Fayetteville.

The Mississippi-based fast-casual restaurant features sandwiches, pizza, soups and salads.

The company was founded in 2004 by Don Newcomb, Chris Newcomb and Debra Bryson – the same folks who started McAlister’s Deli. The group eventually sold McAlister’s to focus on Newk’s (abbreviation for “Newcomb”).

The Fayetteville restaurant will be the fifth Newk’s in the state. Other Arkansas locations include Jonesboro, Hot Springs and two restaurants in the Little Rock area.

According to the company’s website, there were 66 Newk’s locations across 13 states as of early August. Officials plan to open 15 more restaurants this calendar year, with a goal of having 200 total restaurants by 2019.

Update: Newk’s is set to open Monday, Jan. 12, 2015.
