FLYER GUIDE: A guide to the 2014 Fayetteville Roots Festival

Graphic: Fayetteville Roots Festival

It appears as though the tradition of bringing in world-class musicians for a weekend celebration of roots music, local food, and Ozark culture is here to stay each fall in Fayetteville.

Of course, we’re talking about the Fayetteville Roots Festival, back for its fifth year in 2014.

Once again, locals Bryan Hembree and Jerrmy Gawthrop have put together an absolutely incredible lineup of music, food, and fun for this year’s event.

As evidence of this fact, the main stage is completely sold out for both Friday and Saturday night, including headlining performances by beloved rustic blues and country-tinged songwriter Lucinda Williams, Americana band The Wood Brothers, and songwriting powerhouses Darrel Scott and Tim O’Brien, Jay Farrar, Anais Mitchel, and more.

There are still some tickets available to several late night shows at George’s Majestic Lounge, featuring The Wood Brothers, acclaimed act Hooray for the Riff Raff, pop troubadour Ben Kweller and a Flyer favorite, Water Liars.

The festival has plenty of free shows as well, including performances by Sad Daddy on Friday night and Portland-based Jackstraw on Saturday and Sunday at Maxine’s Tap Room. Kingfish has free shows with Candy Lee and Dave Bright on Friday, and Sad Daddy and The Vine Brothers on Saturday night. There are also free stages at the Fayetteville Public Library, and on the square during the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market on Saturday.

To grab tickets to one of the Thursday, Friday or Saturday late night ticketed shows still available, visit fayettevilleroots.com.
