Centro-Matic frontman Will Johnson is on a tour of living rooms around the country this month, and he’ll make a stop in Fayetteville on Friday, Sept. 5.

Johnson will perform at at East Hall Recording, a small studio located at 4210 N. Salem Road.

For those who aren’t familiar, Johnson is known for being one of the most prolific songwriters working today as a solo artist, and for his bands Centro-Matic and South San Gabriel.

He is also know for collaborating with some pretty incredible musicians, including Jim James (My Morning Jacket), M. Ward (She and Him), and Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk). He made a record with Jason Molina of Songs Ohia called Molina and Johnson in 2008. He played with David Bazan (Pedro the Lion), Vic Chesnutt and Mark Eitzel (American Music Club) in a band called Undertow Orchestra (and another with Bazan called Overseas recently). He also did a Woody Guthrie archive project called New Multitudes with Jay Farrar (Son Volt, Uncle Tupelo), Jim James and Anders Parker (Varnaline).

He’s kind of a bad mammer-jammer.

Tickets are $15, on sale now at Undertow Tickets.

Only a handful of tickets will be sold to the show Friday (as of Wednesday morning, only 17 remained), so if you like intimate shows with really great artists, you might want to jump on this one.
