There’s a huge show at Smoke & Barrel Friday night, and it’s absolutely free. Austin-based DJ Chicken George is in town for the first time in a long time, and local DJ’s Short Fuze and Mixx Tenn will also perform.

Speaking of huge shows, Nashville electro-pop duo Cherup is in town for a performance at George’s Saturday night. Unless you’ve already got tickets, however, or have a really good connection with the door person, you’re out of luck on this one. It’s completely sold out.

Actor, educator, and science guy Bill Nye is in town for a speaking engagement at the University of Arkansas tonight. It’s free to attend. Here’s more info.

Theatre-wise, it’s the last chance to see TheatreSquared’s One Man, Two Guvnors at Nadine Baum Studios, and Artist Laboratory Theatre will debut a new version of The New Now at Tri Cycle Farms.

Witchsister

Fans of local blues rock band Little Hoojin might be pumped to know that the band has re-united for a show at Jose’s Saturday night. It starts at 7 p.m., but the show should be going well after the Razorback game ends.

Local rock bands Witchsister and Dead Indian will perform at The Lightbulb Club with Austin-based band, The Sour Notes.

At Smoke & Barrel, locals Shawn James, The Dumptruck Boyz, and Ghost Hollers are set to play.

Also Saturday night, local band Boom Kinetic with Arkansas rockers, The Revolutioneers are at George’s.

Sports-wise, the Razorback football team will host Norther Illinois in their second home football game of the year. Kick off is at 6 p.m. at Razorback Stadium.
