The University of Arkansas women’s golf team is ranked No. 1 in the country for the first time in program history.

The Razorbacks are coming off a season-opening win at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina, a field that included then No. 2 Duke and No. 3 UCLA. The win propelled the Hogs from No. 4 to No. 1, according to the Golfweek.com rankings.

Razorback junior Regina Plasencia was Arkansas’ top finisher last week at the Cougar Classic and is ranked No. 5 in this week’s individual rankings. Sophomore Summar Roachell ranks in at No. 18 in the country followed by Gabriela Lopez at No. 26 and Samantha Marks at No. 31.

Arkansas continues the season at the Schooner Fall Classic Oct. 4-6 in Norman, Oklahoma.
