The best weekend of the year for local film buffs is here.
Of course, we’re talking about the annual Offshoot Film Festival, set for Oct. 2-5 at the University of Arkansas Global Campus, 2 E. Center St. in downtown Fayetteville.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. Thursday night, when the festival will honor Dr. Larry Foley, University of Arkansas Journalism Department Chair.
Also planned for Thursday night is a screening of Valley Inn, a romantic comedy released earlier this year that features Arkansas native Joey Lauren Adams.
The festival continues on Friday with a series of short films beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by features Sympathy Pains and Gone Doggy Gone.
Saturday highlights include a series of short films and documentaries with an Arkansas connection and a screening of Mayfly, a feature filmed entirely in Northwest Arkansas.
In all, 43 independent shorts, documentaries and music videos will be shown during the festival.
Admission to the events range from $7 for a single viewing to $40 for a weekend pass. Workshop tickets can be purchased separately or are free with the purchase of a weekend pass.
Tickets can be purchased through www.eventbrite.com/OffshootFilmFest. For a complete schedule, visit seedlingfilm.com.
