Work on a parking deck project at Spring Street and School Avenue was postponed in August after construction bids came in several million dollars over budget.

Aldermen agreed to use $2.1 million in general reserves to help cover a funding gap in the downtown parking deck construction project.

Council members also agreed what a “For” vote should mean in the upcoming civil rights special election. Opponents of the new anti-discrimination law want a “For” vote to be a vote against the ordinance, but aldermen disagreed with that suggestion.

The No. 7 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide are coming to Fayetteville for a nationally televised football matchup against the Razorbacks on Saturday, and UA officials are planning something special for the TV cameras.
