Children of Fayetteville, prepare to pad your candy stash. The 13th annual Trick or Treat on the Square is coming up.

The event, set for 3-5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31 on the Fayetteville square, will include carnival games, face painting, costume contests, a photo booth, and of course, plenty of opportunities to grab some candy from local merchants around the square.

The streets around the square will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event for the safety of the trick-or-treaters.

According to the folks at the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau, more than 2,000 children attended the festivities last year. Here are a few photos we took to give you an idea of what to expect.

After the trick or treating fun, the second annual Halloween Monster Dash will take place that evening as well, with a 5K run at 5:30 p.m., a fun run/walk at 6 p.m., and a costume contest at 6:30 p.m.

For more information about Trick or Treat on the Square, contact the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau at 479-521-5776.
