Final bulky waste cleanup of the year scheduled

Saturday, Nov. 1 is Fayetteville’s last scheduled bulky waste cleanup of the year.

Residents can dispose of appliances, furniture, and other bulky items that won’t fit into residential trash bins for free from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at two locations: Woodland Jr. High, 1 E. Poplar St., and the Recycling & Trash Collection facility at 1560 S. Happy Hollow Road.

There are a few limitations on what can be accepted at the cleanups.

Items allowed: Furniture, such as couches, chairs and mattresses; large appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves, lawn mowers, hot water heaters, washers and dryers; and renovation materials, such as carpet, padding, vinyl flooring, drywall and paneling (limited amounts only, no contractors allowed).

Items not allowed: Electronic items, such as TVs and computers, household hazardous items, such as medical waste, paint, thinners, solvents, batteries, cleaning chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, tires and automotive fluids; household or commercial garbage; and yard waste, such as limbs, brush, leaves and grass.
