Ten local holiday art and craft markets in Fayetteville

 

Fayetteville has always been home to some incredible local artists and crafters. Over the next few weeks, several of these talented folks will put their one-of-a-kind wares on display at several local art and craft markets scheduled around town.

We found nine ten local holiday markets, art sales, and bazaars (including one “bizarre”) happening in Fayetteville this season, including several opportunities to buy locally made paintings, posters, pottery, jewelry, home decor and more.

Here’s what we know.

Underground Art Market

When: Dec. 3-7, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reception on First Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
Where: Fayetteville Underground, 101 W. Mountain St.
Info: The artists from the Fayetteville Underground will offer small affordable pieces for sale for the holiday season. Artists include Kate Baer, Cheri Bohn, Natalie Brown, William Mayes Flanagan, Ben Flowers, MM Kent, Martha Molina, Lisa Jo Outlaw, Stephanie Petet, and Robert Shinn, Kori Bowers, Ashley Byers, Jan Gosnell, Steve Holst, Cynthia Hunt, Mark Laney, Gregory Moore, Kelly Price, Eugene Sargent, Elizabeth Sharp, and Jessie Ward.

Rites & Wrongs art show

When: Thursday, Dec. 4 from 7-9 p.m.
Where: La La Land, 641 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Info: An art show featuring new work by eight advanced drawing and painting students from the University of Arkansas. Artists include Danielle Cole, Raven Halfmoon, Ray Parker, Mike Pennekamp, Richard Cheek, Travis Keller, Evan Hallmark, and Natalie Brown. Hors d’oeuvres and libations will be served. Holiday Art Sale

When: Friday, Dec. 5 from 7-9 p.m., Saturday Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday Dec. 7 from 12-4 p.m.
Where: The Shirkey House, 229 N. Block Ave.
Info: After a few years away, the show this year has returned to it’s original location at The Shirkey House (also known as the Good Folk House) on Block Avenue. Artists include Don House (photography), Michelle Berg-Vogel (handmade journals, cards and notebooks), Debra DuBois (rugs), Susan Shore (earrings, pins, mixed-media art), Victoria McKinney (pottery and art), Faye Alter (purses), William Mayes Flanagan (paintings), Greg Mitchell (rustic furniture), Sabine Schmidt (photography), Robin Devine (encaustics), and Jimmy Glenn (pottery). Little Craft Show

When: Friday, Dec. 5 from 5-9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Fayetteville Town Center, 15 W. Mountain St.
Info: The Little Craft Show is a juried holiday art and craft market featuring around 80 vendors from around the region. The market includes all kinds of handmade items, from pottery to paintings, jewelry, screen printed t-shirts and posters, some specialty food items, and more. The market is free on Saturday, but this year, the event has added a Friday night $10 ticketed preview event. There’s also food by Greenhouse Grille, art installations by University of Arkansas sculpture students, and lots more. More information is available at thelittlecraftshow.com.

NWACCC Holiday Bazaar

When: Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Nadine Baum Studios, 505 W. Spring St.
Info: The 7th annual NWACCC Holiday Bazaar will feature works of pottery, jewelry, artwork, cards, and other items from local artists. Proceeds benefit the Community Creative Center’s arts educations programs.

Fayetteville Farmers’ Market

When: Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Jefferson Center, 612 S College Ave.
Info: The Fayetteville Farmers’ Market will host the annual holiday market, at a new location this year at Jefferson Center. Thirty local farm, food, art and craft vendors will be offering gift items, including candy, baked goods, fresh produce, baskets, wreaths, furniture, art, birdhouses and more.

The Naughty List Local Art Sale Pop Up Shop

When:Saturday, Dec. 6 from 12-4 p.m.
Where: Hallway between Terra Tots and The Mustache
Info: A pop up art sale featuring work by local artists Kat Wilson, Elizabeth Sharp, Emily Chase, Angelina Bowen, Lori Halley, John Kushmaul, Phillip Rex Huddleston, Billy Shayne, Eddie Love, Stacey Bowers of Bang Up Betty, Sally Nixon, and Donna Smith.

Block Street Bizarre

When:Dec. 6-7 from 12-4 p.m.
Where: North Block Avenue
Info: The businesses along Block Avenue are throwing their annual holiday party, with holiday open houses, a local pottery sale, hot chocolate bar, and other special events. Several stores along the street will be having sales and specials as well. A bit more information about the event is available on Facebook.

St. Paul’s Alternative Gift Market

When: Sunday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 224 N. East Ave.
Info: St. Paul’s Alternative Gift Market is an opportunity to support various life-giving projects. Items available for purchase include food for the hungry, care for the sick, shelter for the homeless, renewal for our endangered planet and other meaningful alternatives to the usual holiday gifts. Craft Addicts Handmade Holiday Sale

When: Saturday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: B Unlimited Building (612 W. Center St.)
Info: Several local artists are planning a new holiday market in the B Unlimited Building this year. The Craft Addicts Handmade Holiday Sale will include leather goods, aprons, pottery, velveteen rabbits, ornaments, art prints, knit wear, and other items by local artists Tonya Tubbs, Fawn Wonsower-Potter, Jessica Robin, Ben Strawn, Ásgerður Jóhannesdóttir, Christian McGuire, Rachael Tebbetts, Zach Pride, Rachael Lyons, and Maurice Gallaway.
