The egg nog event of the century year is coming up in Fayetteville next week.
Of course, we’re talking about the Nog Off, the second-annual egg nog making competition set for Monday, Dec. 15 at Maxine’s Tap Room.
The event will feature five Maxine’s bartenders* – Nick “Noggy Creek Creature” Davidson, Jacqueline “Noggy By Nature” Shin, JD “Sparkles the Nog” Paul, Katie “Night Vision Noggles” Becker, and Frank “I”m the One who Nogs” Holtoff – competing to the death in an egg nog making championship to end all egg nog making championships (until next year).
Patrons can sign up that evening to be judges in a “drinker’s choice” competition, judging nog based on five criteria; aroma, texture, flavor, balance, and creativity. Participation is $10, and all the proceeds will be donated to the Washington Elementary School Gardening & Nutrition Program.
There will also be a judged competition, including local judges Cary Arsaga (Arsaga’s), Pete Hartman (KUAF), Jerrmy Gawthrop (Greenhouse Grille/Woodstone Pizza), Jennifer Lewis (Cooking Fresh), and Zac Ball (Glazers) selecting their favorite noggy creation.
The fun starts at 7 p.m. (we’d recommend getting there early. Last year’s event resulted in a packed house).
Aw hell nog.
