Weekend Flyer: Jan. 30-Feb. 1, 2015

Friday events, Jan. 30

Grim Creeper

John Moore, noir33

A new play by local playwright Robert Ford will make its world premier in Fayetteville this week. TheatreSquared will bring to life Ford’s Look Away with a string of performances scheduled for Nadine Baum Studios this weekend. Here’s more info.

If you want to watch some incredible dancers, there’s a good show at Walton Arts Center. Tangram, a new show described as “complex, sexy, and irreverently imaginative,” will be on stage at 8 p.m. It’s a 10 x 10 show, so there should be some $10 tickets available.

There’s another type of dance event entirely at Backspace Friday night. They’re hosting one of their Square Dances beginning at 8 p.m. The Old 78s will provide the music, and there’s a $5 suggested donation.

Tunes wise, excellent Little Rock band Amasa Hines is back in town for a show at Smoke & Barrel with Grim Creeper and The Good Fear (featuring two Flyer co-founders).

There’s are also good local shows at The Lightbulb Club with Swampbird and Peace of the Sea, and George’s has Foley’s Van and The Irie Lions.

Also Friday night, there’s a birthday party for local downtown personality Duane Newman at Nightbird Books with performances by Jack Katzem, Martin Bember and Ghost Hollers (Nick Shoulders, etc.) Here’s more info.
