Friday events, March 13

The Hard Road Trio / Courtesy

There’s a southwestern acoustic folk show Friday night at Fayetteville Underground presented by longtime local folk promoter Mike Shirkey. The Hard Road Trio (Steve Smith, Anne Luna, Chris Sanders) are set to take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be reserved by emailing Mike at [email protected].

Walton Arts Center will finish its run of the family musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this weekend. Evening performances are planned Friday and Saturday, with afternoon shows available on Saturday and Sunday.

There’s more live music all over town Friday including happy hour events at Arsaga’s and George’s, and then plenty of late night music at JR’s, Backspace, Ryleigh’s, and more.

Saturday events, March 14

Several St. Patrick’s Day related events are planned on Saturday including the Northwest Arkansas Roller Derby’s Shamrock 5K Run and a 1-Mile Fun Run. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. Here are the details, including specific registration information.

Later in the day is the annual St. Patrick’s on the Hill festival. The event kicks off with a parade at 11 a.m., followed by a full day full of music, food, beer, and fun on the Fayetteville square. Here’s our full story with more info.

Saturday afternoon local artist Nick Shoulders will present some recent work in an exhibition called Some Dark Holler beginning at 3 p.m. at Backspace.

There’s an early show at JR’s with Canadian traditional country songwriter/artist Daniel Romano. The self-proclaimed “King of Mosey” will make a stop in Fayetteville on his way to SXSW. Saturday’s intimate show at JR’s is not to be missed. Locals Willi Goehring will Keyless Gentry will provide support for the show, which is set to start a couple of hours earlier than normal at 8 p.m.

Sunday events, March 15

Sunday begins with the Highway 71 Classic bike ride. The event, which serves as a fundraiser and membership drive for the BCO, offers two “out-and-back” rides; a 32-mile flat ride to Brentwood and a more challenging 71-mile hilly route to Mountainburg. Here’s our story with more info.

The All You Need to Know Show returns to Maxine’s on Sunday with a live taping of the performance at 7 p.m. The themed vaudeville/ trivia/ talk show is part of the venue’s Sunday Night Service, which is recorded and later aired on KUAF. This week’s topic: Danger! A 30- minute version of the live show airs on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. on KUAF HD3, and starting April 5, the shows will air on 91.3 FM at 7 p.m.
