Local Supergroup To Perform Strokes Tribute

An all-star group of musicians will come together this weekend to pay tribute to one of their favorite albums of all time.

Members of several local bands (Groovement, A Good Fight, Surf De Soleil, Apartment 5, Swimming and Summit) will play the Strokes’ 2001 album Is This It in its entirety beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, March 27 at Ryleigh’s.

Eddie Love (A Good Fight), Scott Love (Surf de Soleil) Trey Burkett (Groovement), Joel Paul (Apartment 5, Sw/mm/ng) and Christian Sanchez (Summit, A Good Fight) make up the band.

The musicians will play as The Shitty Beatles, a moniker The Strokes famously played under at secret shows early in their career (and also a Wayne’s World reference).

New local band George and the Jetsons (fronted by Brandon George of The Christmas Fuller Project) will open the show.

Admission is $3 at the door. Here’s the official Facebook Event for the show.
