Groups Plan Drug Take-Back Event On April 25 In Fayetteville

Old medications taking up space in the cabinet can be safely disposed this weekend at a drug take-back event hosted by the Fayetteville Police Department and Project Right Choice.

Any unused, unwanted, or expired prescriptions or over-the-counter medications will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at the Harps Food Store parking lot, 1780 N. Crossover Rd.

Police will be available to collect the meds, no questions asked, for disposal.

Organizers of the event, held as part of the second annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, said studies have shown that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including the home medicine cabinet. Take-back events help remove potentially dangerous prescription drugs, particularly controlled substances, from those medicine cabinets.
