Weekend Flyer: May 15-17, 2015

  • By Dustin Bartholomew · Friday, May 15, 2015

Friday events, May 15

It’s been a great week for beer lovers in Fayetteville, and that trend continues this weekend. The first ever Brewers Ball, part of this week’s Beer Week festivities, is set for Friday night at the Chancellor Hotel. The event will feature craft brews by New Belgium Brewing and Ozark Beer Company paired with gourmet creations by chef Mike of the 64/94 Bistro. Here is more info.

Live music wise, there are several good shows planned in town. Little Rock band Stephen Neeper & The Wildhearts are in town for a show at Kingfish (weather permitting).

There’s a rock show at The Lightbulb Club with Mud Lung, The Thunderlizards and Mean Ends, and excellent reggae outfit Rochelle Bradshaw & Hypnotion are at Smoke & Barrel.

Sunday events, May 17

One of the biggest street parties of the year happens to be going down in Fayetteville this weekend. Block Street Block Party begins around noon, and will continue through the evening with tons of live music, street vendors, food trucks, pony rides, bouncy houses, belly dancers, and more funky stuff. Here’s our full festival guide.

Dickson Street regular and live music supporter Jon Edwards passed away recently, and tons of musicians will come together to pay tribute to him Sunday night at Jose’s. West Street Blues Band, Left Of Center, Leah and The Mojo Doctors, Dawn Cate and The Rhythm Kings, Oreo Blue, and more will perform. The event will begin at 1 p.m., and run until about 7 p.m.

Local Americana duo Smokey & the Mirror will play one of their Sunday night Greenhouse Grille shows this week. They’ll also celebrate the release of their new album, Thin Black Line. Admission is $20, and Chicago/Montreal duo Birds of Chicago will open the show.
