Some local players are getting together to perform a Shakespeare classic beginning this week in Fayetteville.

The Crude Mechanicals, a company formed last year by a group of local actors, will host a series of performances of The Bard’s final play, The Tempest, at Gulley Park in Fayetteville beginning Tuesday, June 2.

The company is made up of current students or recent theatre graduates from the University of Arkansas and Pace University in New York City.

Locals Kyle Smiley, Ross Wagner, Adam Rose, Allegra Rodriguez-Shivers, Zach Stolz, and Kelsey Cain make up the cast of The Tempest.

The company also plans to perform Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night in late June / early July (specific dates are still to be determined).

Performances of The Tempest will take place near the gazebo at the park, and are scheduled at 7 p.m. on June 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7.

All of the performances are free to attend, and lawn chairs and picnic blankets are recommended.

For a bit more information about the company, check out their Facebook page.
