Construction to close lanes on Fieldstone Avenue

Drivers who use Fieldstone Avenue in west Fayetteville can expect detours over the next few days.

City crews will begin a project to replace the temporary rubber speed table with a permanent concrete speed table on Fieldstone Avenue between Franciscan Trail and Wedington Drive beginning Thursday, June 4.

The work will require closing one lane of Fieldstone Avenue to allow the concrete to cure and gain the necessary strength to carry traffic. One lane will remain open to allow access for emergency vehicles. Other traffic will be detoured along Franciscan Trail and Carlsbad Terrace. Signs will be in place to direct drivers, according to a city news release. Motorists are urged to extreme caution when in the work area and to watch for workers and equipment.

Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Construction is estimated to last about a week, weather permitting.
