Construction continues this week on a $23 million expansion and renovation of the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville.

The arts center closed on July 1 to begin the project which will add 30,000 square feet to the building at 495 W. Dickson St. The work includes construction of a new lobby and entryway, an expanded Starr Theater, additional backstage space and new administrative offices.

The center will re-open in time for the Nov. 6 performance of Me & My Shadow presented by Patch Theatre Group. Construction will continue throughout the season, with all work expected to be complete by fall 2016.

Work also continues on the city’s new three-level, 246-space parking deck on the south side of the Walton Arts Center campus. The $12 million project, which began last fall, is expected to be complete in late October or early November.
