UA freshman tight end O’Grady arrested

Cheyenne (C.J.) O’Grady, 18, of Fayetteville, was booked into the Washington County Jail at 6:34 a.m., according to the sheriff’s department’s website.

The freshman tight end for the Arkansas Razorbacks was arrested by the Fayetteville Police Department on charges of DWI, minor in possession of alcohol, no taillight, and no proof of insurance. A hearing is set for Aug. 31 in Fayetteville District Court.

The UA has yet to issue a statement concerning the arrest, but Arkansas football coach Bret Bielema said Thursday that the 6-4, 241-pound O’Grady, a four-star recruit, would likely redshirt this season because of Arkansas’ depth at tight end.

Update: Bielema issued the following statement on O’Grady’s arrest Friday.

Based on the information available at this time, we have suspended C.J. O’Grady indefinitely from our program effective immediately,” said Bielema. “We all can make mistakes and I hope C.J. uses this as a learning experience and an opportunity to grow. We have addressed the issue and our team focus will remain on preparing for the season opener.
