Rep. David Whitaker (D-Fayetteville) will run for re-election in 2016, the two-term incumbent announced on Monday.
“It has been the privilege of my life to serve the people of Fayetteville, Farmington, and Prairie Grove in the legislature, and I hope they’ll give me the honor to continue to serve them for another term,” Whitaker said in a news release.
Whitaker is an Air Force veteran and has served as the assistant city attorney for the city of Fayetteville.
In his news release, he said changes to the Arkansas DWI law, implementing a new business structure in the Arkansas code, and legislation that allows cities to crack down on predatory towing are what he considers to be his most significant work since being elected in 2012.
Whitaker said he will hold a campaign kickoff in Fayetteville from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28 at Apple Blossom Brewing Company.
