City offers free document shredding on Oct. 3

The city’s Recycling and Trash Collection Division will host a free document shredding service from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Recycling and Trash Collection facility, located at 1560 S. Happy Hollow Road in Fayetteville.

Residents will be limited to five copy paper-sized boxes each. A shredding van will be available to securely shred paper documents, according to a news release. The shredded paper will then be recycled.

For more information, contact Brian Pugh, Waste Reduction Coordinator, at 479-718-7685.

From a news release:

Fayetteville citizens are invited to participate in this service for proper destruction of secure documents and to help protect against identity theft. The Arkansas Attorney General’s Office advises, “Don’t let ‘one man’s trash become an identity thief’s treasure.’ Shred or otherwise destroy any statements, documents, or records, which contain personal information after they are no longer needed.”
