The original Slim Chickens location at 2120 N. College Ave. in Fayetteville has received a makeover.

The store was closed for about a week while crews worked to complete a major renovation project. Company staff are set to celebrate the remodel with a grand re-opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16.

The location was the first for the local chain that now operates 30 restaurants in seven states, with several new store openings planned in 2015.

The restaurant received a total transformation as part of the remodel, with a new brick siding exterior, a new roof, and new signage outside, as well as a completely re-built kitchen, some new furniture, flooring, and more.

The updated look is consistent with the restaurant’s newer locations, though one of the goals of the remodel was to retain the original store’s charm. The company even hired local artist Eric Snodgrass to paint a mural tribute to the original purple-roofed location inside the store, labeled “Hatched right here in Fayetteville, AR.”

Staff will hand out swag bags to the first 50 customers on Monday as part of the celebration, and will donate a musical instrument to the Fayetteville Public School orchestra. Members of the band will perform at the event, and Slim Chickens co-founders Tom Gordon and Greg Smart will be on hand to greet customers and work the drive-thru on Monday.
