South Fayetteville residents may soon have a new place to enjoy locally-brewed craft beer.

Developers Michael Ward and Matthew Petty have partnered with World Domination LLC, the group behind Apple Blossom Brewing Company, to purchase a 0.2-acre lot north of Greenhouse Grille on West Prairie Street where they plan to build a mixed-use development that will include a new taproom for the brewery.

The plans include a three-story building with a 1,300-square-foot taproom on the ground floor, and 10 one-bedroom apartments on the upper floors.

Each apartment will have its own dedicated parking space, said Petty, who is also an alderman in Ward 2. The bar, he said, will rely on foot traffic from the surrounding neighborhoods and Frisco Trail, as well as from patrons of nearby restaurants like Greenhouse Grille and Wood Stone Craft Pizza.

Some final design details are still being worked out, but Petty said he hopes to finalize those soon.

“We still have some style decisions to make,” he said. “Right now we’re showing Hardie panel and corrugated metal (on the building’s exterior), but that could change.”

Evan McDonald, one of the partners with Apple Blossom Brewing, said a satellite bar in that area has always been a part of the brewery’s plans.

“Since we incorporated in 2006, we’ve always wanted to be in south Fayetteville,” McDonald said. “This is a realization of that dream.”

McDonald said additional locations throughout the region is another strategy the brewery’s owners hope to one day realize.

He added that he has been encouraged by the partnership with Petty and Ward, and the relationship could lead to future projects in Fayetteville as well.

If all goes according to plan, crews could break ground on the project in the coming months. Once underway, construction is expected to last about a year.
